Bussola Crisis Intervention

An organization for service provision in family care (DAF)

Bussola provides children, adolescents and young adults who are unable to live in their traditional environment in the short, medium or long term with a place to stay (home) in a host or foster family. This is intended to calm the situation and enable optimal planning for the future.

The entrusted children and adolescents, as well as our host and foster families, are accompanied and supported by Bussola during the out-of-home placement. In doing so, the influence of the family of origin and the client is taken into account. We attach great importance to transparent and reliable cooperation with those concerned and those involved for the benefit of the children and young people entrusted to us.

Why the name "Bussola"?

Bussola means compass. The compass is an important tool for determining the current situation and setting goals. Bussola is a crisis intervention organization and sees itself as a service in foster care.

Bussola provides process-oriented guidance, counseling and support for children and adolescents, as well as host and foster families during out-of-home placement and regularly informs the client about the progress.

Crisis intervention for children and adolescents

By crisis intervention we mean various forms of professionally supported placement in a host or foster family. We distinguish between the terms "host family" for short-term measures, such as emergency, time-out or bridging until a follow-up solution is found, and "foster family" for medium- to long-term placement. For reasons of better readability, we generally use the term "foster family" on our website.

Professional accompaniment

All host and foster families in the Bussola network are under official supervision. Day-to-day management of family cohabitation and crisis management by professionals are of equal importance to Bussola.

Bussola is available 365 days a year around the clock and can be on site when the situation requires it.

Bussola accompanies children and adolescents in the sustainable overcoming of difficult life situations through a placement in a host or foster family.
The involvement of the family of origin is of great importance and is discussed with the client.

The aim is to calm down an exceptional situation as quickly as possible and to establish a regular everyday life.

Then future perspectives can be clarified.

Bussola has a network of carefully selected host and foster families. They offer children and young people a loving and regulated environment, reliable relationships and many opportunities to learn life skills.

Host or foster families provide a regulated family environment for a conducive daily life.

Assigning instances

Bussola becomes active when public assistance has been organized via child and adult protection, and other services, such as youth advocacy, school psychological services, health care, etc. Assignments are thus given to Bussola AG by authorities via delegated specialists, as well as by organizations of inpatient youth welfare.

Bussola does not become active itself, but requires a corresponding order.
