Shimi Lang was born in Basel and attended schools in Basel, London, Gateshead and in Jerusalem.

He then studied to become an actuary in Switzerland. During this time he was also active in various youth organizations and regularly lectured as part of this activity.

He trained as a child and youth psychotherapist in Osnabrück and worked for several years as a therapist in a child and youth clinic in Germany.

From June 2020, he became acting rabbi in Osnabrück, Germany, before returning to Zurich in 2022 to open a psychotherapeutic practice.

Shimi Lang is married and has two lively children.
