We are a team of trained separation counselors in the area of Zurich, Aargau, Schaffhausen. All counselors work independently of each other and independently. We did our training at the "Association for Shared Parenting (VeV)" and at the association "mannschafft". We accompany you through the separation up to the divorce. Through a regular professional exchange also with the members of the Arbeitskreis Trennung Aargau we support each other.

If desired, we also offer consultations in pairs. We guarantee competence, confidentiality and efficiency. You decide whether you want to come to counseling alone, or with your partner, and how long you want to take advantage of our counseling. The individual members of the team will be happy to inform you about dates, costs and time requirements.

Separation thoughts

In love, engaged, married. And then comes everyday life. Some things change. The partner, the partnership, the children, the life, the circumstances, maybe also the job, the place of residence, the friends, the hobby.

Thoughts arise: Am I still happy and satisfied? Is my partner happy too? Maybe we can change something together (-> marriage counseling/couples counseling). Maybe not. Often the stock of common ground is used up after years of marriage. Then a separation or divorce makes sense for all involved. Around 40% of all marriages in Switzerland end in divorce. The average duration of a marriage is 15 years. Divorce is no longer a social stigma.

Separation does not have to mean quarrels and hatred. A separation does not simply erase the good times of a partnership. Joint parenthood remains. Joint custody of the children is the new task. Separating means letting go, opening up for a new path, for a new happiness or more satisfaction.

Separation Issues

The more often thoughts of separation arise, the more it makes sense to clarify questions that arise in the event of a possible separation.

• Should, can and may I leave my husband/wife just like that? What are the consequences financially (-> spousal alimony, child alimony) and practically-organizationally (-> child care)?
• Do I need certain reasons for a separation?
• What do I have to do concretely if I want to separate? (-> separation counseling, divorce counseling, litigation counseling).
• Do I need a lawyer or are there more favorable solutions (-> voluntary, amicable, out-of-court separation agreement, judicial separation, matrimonial proceedings)?
• Do I need an agreement (-> separation) or a convention (-> divorce)?
• Who may stay in the marital apartment/house, who must move out?
• Who owns what, who keeps what, and who takes what with them (-> apartment, house, furniture, pictures, cars, household appliances, etc.)?
• What happens to the children (-> best interests of the child, sole custody, alternating custody, child support)? Where do the children live (-> with the father, with the mother, with both, residence model, alternating model)?Will I continue to see the children and how often (-> visitation rights, visitation arrangements)? Who will decide if something happens to the children? (-> joint custody)
• What does joint custody mean for the children?
• Who has to pay what to whom? (-> spousal support, child support)
• What happens if the person liable to pay alimony does not pay? (-> alimony advance payment, alimony collection, judicial matrimonial proceedings, Kesp)
• Who do I have to inform about my separation? (-> tax office, banks, insurances, school etc.)
• How does it work with taxes?
• How long should the separation last (-> min. 2 years as a prerequisite for a unilateral divorce petition, fighting divorce, individual duration)?
• When does the divorce follow (-> joint divorce petition, unilateral divorce petition)?
• Do I have to go to court? (-> not mandatory in case of separation, mandatory in case of divorce, district courts in Zurich and Aargau, cantonal court in Schaffhausen

separation solutions

Our goal is to enable partners to part with dignity, decency and mutual respect. We accompany you in this process and together we search for the right way of separation (-> conflict resolution, mediation) to enable and sign a mutually agreeable separation agreement or a joint divorce convention.

The separation is mainly about spousal and child maintenance (-> calculation of maintenance claims), custody and guardianship rights for the children, residential rights, child care and any initial division of joint property (-> bank accounts, insurance policies, cars). The actual separation of property in the sense of the law (-> real estate, pension fund assets, 2nd pillar, AHV, AHV education and care credits, etc.) only takes place in the context of the divorce.
